What this feature does
Document Q&A lets you ask plain-English questions about a selected document and get grounded answers with citations. Each answer links to supporting source text so you can verify it quickly.
Before you start
- A document is uploaded and processed.
- You have access to Q&A for that document.
- You know the specific topic you want to confirm.
Steps
- Open a processed document.
- Select Document Q&A.
- Type a focused question in plain English.
- Select Ask.
- Read the answer and open citations to verify context.
- Refine your question if you need more detail.
What questions work well
- "What is the margin for Facility A?"
- "When is the next covenant test date?"
- "What are the conditions precedent for first drawdown?"
- "Who is the facility agent in this agreement?"
Grounded vs out of scope
- Grounded: Answer is supported by source text in the selected document.
- Out of scope: Requested information is not present in the document or needs external data.
What citations look like
Citations include the related clause or section reference and let you jump to the supporting text span in the document viewer.
Tips
- Ask one topic per question for clearer answers.
- Mention the exact term or clause name when possible.
- Use follow-up questions to narrow broad topics.
Troubleshooting
- Answer says out of scope: Rephrase with terms that appear in the document.
- Answer is too broad: Ask a narrower question with one data point.
- Citation seems unrelated: Open the citation and verify document selection.
