What this feature does

Benchmark Terms Validation compares your deal terms against standard language patterns used in APLMA and LMA documentation. It highlights deviations so analysts can review non-standard terms quickly.

Before you start

  • Document extraction is complete.
  • You have Analyst or Admin access.
  • You know which benchmark set applies to your deal.

Steps

  1. Open a processed document.
  2. Select Benchmark Terms Validation.
  3. Choose benchmark set: APLMA or LMA.
  4. Select Run Comparison.
  5. Review flagged items in the results panel.
  6. Open each flagged term to compare source text and benchmark expectation.
  7. Record analyst notes for terms that need legal or credit review.

Deviation flags

  • High: Material difference from benchmark language.
  • Medium: Notable variation that may affect interpretation.
  • Low: Minor wording difference with limited impact.

How to interpret results

  • Treat High flags as priority review items.
  • Use Medium flags for structured analyst assessment.
  • Confirm Low flags during final quality pass.

Tips

  • Run comparison after extraction review is approved for best consistency.
  • Focus first on pricing, covenant, and event-of-default sections.
  • Add clear notes to speed committee review.

Troubleshooting

  • No results appear: Confirm extraction is approved and benchmark set is selected.
  • Too many flags: Check document type and compare against the correct benchmark set.
  • Flag seems incorrect: Open source text and capture a review note for follow-up.
